Driving I-84 west from Boise comes with two pleasures — the opportunity to stop by Multnomah Falls and, when the sky is clear, the appearance of snow-capped Mount Hood. We never see snow on the tops of mountains in Southeast Asia (though snowflakes have been known to fall from time to time on the tops of the highest peaks, never enough to cover the ground), so there is something exciting about seeing snow still on the mountains through the sprint and even into the summer.
In the midst of a year when the destination of our lives seemed very much like this road in this photo — unseen and curving away into the unknown — the unchanging presence of something, or Someone, provides some stabilization.
This photo is not the best I’ve ever taken, but that’s okay. Not every photo can be a masterpiece, but this is a nice reminder of the happiness of seeing Mt. Hood in the distance. I like it.
